I’ll be the first to admit, I haven’t taken the best care of my skin. For some odd reason I didn’t think I needed to, then I turned 29 and everything went to hell. I started breaking out and getting tiny little bumps on my face! I haven’t had acne since I was 15! I would have weeks of beautiful clear skin then a week of these red pimples that hurt around my upper lip and chin.
I went to the dermatologist and was told I have hormonal acne. The only way to fix it was with medication. In a selfish way I was somewhat excited that I didn’t have to give up my coffee habit. So now here I am with the same topical medication I used as a kid and an oral antibiotic.
Those two things got my acne under control but neither helped the texture of my skin. I noticed just how bad it was when I took this picture. This picture was taken last week.
I thought to myself, “How the hell am I going to blog about beauty when my skin looks like this???” I was told I should just add a filter, that’s what everyone else does. Here’s the thing, I don’t want to lie to you guys, if my skin is bad – it’s bad. I have nothing that I need to hide from the work but I am more than happy to share my journey.
So here we are, I’ve decide to get some good habits under my belt and I’ve started my own 21 day Exfoliate and Hydrate challenge!
I want to bring back my natural radiance, sometimes it’s nice to run to the store without a full face of make up. Plus compliments about how great you skin looks always feel nice, right?
Right now I really want to focus on making enough time in my day to continue this routine. I know if you make it too complicated no one will do it.
The routine is simple: exfoliate twice a day, hydrate and use eye cream.
