I have been searching for an alternative to foundation for a while now. I struggle with wanting to have a flawless face yet not wanting to wear a full face of makeup. For the longest time I have been looking for a tinted moisturizer that still gave me a good amount of coverage. On the days that I break out I want to cover the redness but I also don’t want to cake on my makeup. I will also admit that when you’re used to medium to full coverage foundation it’s really hard to find something that is light enough to feel weightless yet pigmented enough to cover blemishes.
I’ve gone to many counters and tried numerous tinted moisturizes only to leave there empty handed. While I love that I didn’t waste my money I felt like my only choice was to continue to wear a full face of makeup or run out the door with nothing on. That is until I stopped by the NARS boutique on Fillmore in San Francisco. We are blessed to have such an amazing group of ladies and be one of the few cities with a free standing boutique. I walked in to pick up a few items but they asked me if I have ever tried their tinted moisturizer. Well no, I told them and proceeded to explain all the reasons why I wasn’t a fan of tinted moisturizers all together. When the girl told me she was wearing the tinted moisturizer my mouth fell. What????? She was like, “Yes!!! I am serious you’re going to love the coverage!” Sure enough she was right I am in love!
You can find their Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer on their website and at any of their counter locations, I think Sephora has it too. The trick is the apply with a Beauty Blender, I find that this still gives you the coverage you are looking for but also gives you a skin like finish. If you are looking to keep this moisturizer put for hours on end you’ll want to set it. I have been setting mine with their Pressed Powder in Beach. I have fallen in love with this combo and find it to be a great alternative to a heavier coverage foundation.
Below is a before and after picture just to show you the coverage. Those blemishes were pretty big and very red. Normally I put a little concealer over the blemish then put foundation/tinted moisturizer over but for the purpose of this blog I went with just tinted moisturizer 🙂
I highly recommend this product if you’re looking for something with great coverage but not interested in wearing foundation. It’s great for quick runs to the store or when you’re grabbing your Sunday morning coffee!
